Job summary

Vegpro International Inc. is seeking a Production Labourer in Canada to support the washing, sorting and packaging of raw baby leaf lettuce for salads. You will report to the Packaging Line Lead and Production Supervisors on a refrigerated line as part of a unionized team (UFCW-1518).

The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and adherence to GMP/HACCP standards. Benefits include EAP, life insurance, medical and dental coverage, and on-site parking.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is an asset; experience in production/manufacturing is an asset.
• Able to work in a 4°C environment with allergens present.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and move heavy loads.

Responsibilities

• Wash, sort and pack raw baby leaf lettuce.
• Open and distribute material from cases and boxes at wash line.
• Cut, weigh, pre-wash and prepare lettuce and vegetables.
• Fill bins, clean and prepare for packing; distribute packaging boxes and lids.
• Pack salad kits, load boxes onto pallets and wrap for shipping.
• Ensure pallets are prepared and labeled for shipment.
• Follow Health and Safety, GMP and HACCP procedures.

Job description

Reporting to the Packaging Line Lead and Production Supervisors the Production Labourer is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the production and packaging of raw baby leaf lettuce for the preparation of salads.This is a unionized position with UFCW-1518.

Main Responsibilities

• Responsible for the initial washing, sorting and packing of raw baby leaf lettuce
• Opening and distributing raw material from cases and plastic boxes at the wash line
• Cut, weigh, pre-wash and prepare lettuce, vegetables etc.
• Fill lettuce bins, cleaning and preparation for packing
• Distribute bowls, lids, packaging boxes on the various production/packaging lines
• Place salad-topping ingredients manually in the "insert" containers
• Place the insert in the salad kits
• Pack cardboard boxes with salad kits, load boxes on to pallets, wrap pallets for shipping
• Prepare and identify the pallets at the locations intended for shipment
• Ensure implementation of company policies and procedures ensuring compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures, good manufacturing practices (GMP) and HACCP
• Perform other related duties
