Job summary

Vegpro International Inc. is seeking a Production Supervisor for our brand-new automated greenhouse project on Montreal’s South Shore, in Saint-Patrice-de-Sherrington.

The role leads daily seeding, harvesting, packaging, warehousing, and shipping/receiving activities, ensuring GMP/HACCP standards and a strong production schedule. The supervisor will coach and motivate a team, optimize operations, and manage line setup while collaborating with stakeholders to meet customer deadlines and quality

Qualifications

  • Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Operations and Production Management (GOP) or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in the agri-food industry and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication skills in French and English.
  • Knowledge of GMP and HACCP standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and prioritize daily packaging and warehouse operations.
  • Execute and adjust the daily production schedule while ensuring adequate coverage for MTS products.
  • Monitor production performance and minimize disruptions across manufacturing, warehousing, transportation, and customer service.
  • Identify, analyze, and manage risks related to customer service, product losses, and finished goods shortages.
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of planning information and inventory reports.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and communicate priorities to the team.
  • Supervise line preparation and startup activities and ensure efficient changeovers.
  • Monitor KPIs and resolve issues to meet deadlines.
  • Evaluate employees and support their development, including onboarding and job-specific training.
  • Foster employee engagement and a safe, GMP/HACCP-compliant work environment.

Temporary (1-year contract) | Full-time | Wednesday to Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Location:

Located on Montreal’s South Shore, in Saint-Patrice-de-Sherrington. Conveniently situated approximately 30 minutes from the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge, near the junction of Highways 15 South, 10, and 30.

Job Description

Reporting to the Production Manager – Packaging, the Production Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our brand-new automated greenhouse, a unique project in Canada dedicated to cultivating new lettuce varieties.

As a hands-on leader, the Production Supervisor plans, organizes, and oversees daily seeding, harvesting, packaging, warehousing, and shipping/receiving activities. They are responsible for executing and optimizing the production schedule while ensuring compliance with quality, food safety, and performance standards.

As a coach and people leader, they engage and motivate their team around clear objectives, support employee development, and leverage standard management systems to achieve expected results. They are also responsible for line setup, managing operational challenges, and ensuring strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and prioritize daily packaging and warehouse operations in accordance with established procedures and standards.
  • Execute and adjust the daily production schedule while ensuring adequate coverage for MTS (Made-to-Stock) products.
  • Monitor production performance in real time, assess the impact of schedule changes, and implement the best strategies to minimize disruptions to manufacturing, warehousing, transportation, and customer service.
  • Identify, analyze, and manage risks related to customer service, product losses, and finished goods shortages (customer shorts), in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of planning information and inventory reports.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and communicate priorities and updates clearly to the team.
  • Supervise line preparation and startup activities, ensuring efficient execution of production tasks and product changeovers.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and resolve operational and technical issues to meet customer deadlines.
  • Evaluate employees, support their development, coordinate training activities, including onboarding and job-specific training.
  • Foster employee engagement, maintain a collaborative work environment, and ensure compliance with safe work practices, GMP, and HACCP standards.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.

Knowledge and skills sought
  • Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Operations and Production Management (GOP) or any other relevant field of study.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in the agri-food industry and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both French and English to ensure effective communication with our plant employees. Spanish is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GFSI) and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, with sound judgment and a broad operational perspective.
  • Strong sense of urgency and excellent ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
