Job summary

Tourmaline Oil is seeking a Production Engineer to join our Calgary team. Based in Calgary with regular field visits, you will monitor gas well performance, conduct reviews, and coordinate with completions to optimize facilities and gathering systems.

You will build production dashboards, report forecasts, and drive improvements in area performance with cross-functional teams including geology, operations, and facilities. This role emphasizes proactive problem solving and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering.
  • P.Eng preferred.
  • 5–15 years in production and facility operations.

Responsibilities

Tourmaline is a Canadian senior oil and natural gascompany focused on long-term growth through anactive exploration, development, production and acquisition program in the Western CanadianSedimentary Basin.

We are currently looking for a Production Engineer to join the team. This position is based out of our Calgary office, with regular field visits to build strong working relationships with both field and Calgary-based team members.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:

  • Monitor production performance of gas wells, identify trends, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions to increase production and minimize downtime.
  • Report on base forecast and variances.
  • Conduct regular well reviews with field operations.
  • Coordinate with the Completions workover team to execute wireline and service rig jobs.
  • Conduct engineering projects, in partnership with geology, operations, and facilities staff, to analyze opportunities to improve area performance.
  • Support the operations engineer and work closely with the Development Engineer, Superintendent, Foremen, and Field Lead to ensure facility and gathering system optimization projects fit with the overall goals of the area.
  • Work with the asset team to manage frac and drilling offset risk on parent and child wells, including offset well shut-ins/FPZ planning (D83) and post-frac optimization.
  • Manage impairment mitigation, budgeting/KPIs, and water disposal well needs.
  • Review artificial lift designs (plunger lift and gas lift systems) and make recommendations based on cost and operability.
  • Work with vendors to optimize artificial lift applications.
  • Work with Operations Technology and Automation teams to implement control systems and surveillance programs to maximize production.
  • Support operations and asset integrity teams on various projects and initiatives.
  • Raise AFEs (Authorizations for Expenditure) for capital and OPEX well workovers.
  • Share and implement new technologies with the team.
  • Assist the completions team with frac watch.
  • Build and maintain production dashboards.

Experience Requirements

The successful candidate needs to have experience in the following areas in order to be qualified for this role:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering from a recognized University (P.Eng preferred).
  • 5–15 years of experience in production and facility operations.
  • Direct experience with well optimization/intervention, gathering and process infrastructure, and field operations.
