Job summary

Tourmaline Oil Corp. is seeking an Operations Engineer to support field operations and production facilities across asset teams. You will collaborate with production, process engineering, maintenance and HSE teams to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations.

The role focuses on area optimization, OPEX planning, and maintenance, with involvement in MOC, process safety, and major turnaround planning. A mechanical/chemical/petroleum background and experience in upstream oil and gas are

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering.
• 5–15 years of oil and gas operations, production, or process facilities.
• Direct experience with process equipment such as separators, compressors, pumps, and heat exchangers.
• Familiarity with SCADA and other real-time monitoring systems.
• Experience with upstream oil and gas operations is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Monitor production performance and identify opportunities; develop management reports.
• Identify bottlenecks and work with process engineers to maximize throughput and recovery.
• Manage OPEX budget and forecast with Production Operations team; implement cost improvements.
• Support MOC evaluations, Process Safety input, and maintenance outages planning.
• Plan tie-ins for new production facilities; liaise across operations, maintenance and engineering teams.

Job description

Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a Canadian senior crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company. We are focused on long-term growth through an active exploration, development, production and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

We are currently looking for an Operations Engineer to join our team, supporting field operations and production facilities across our asset teams. Reporting to the Operations Team Lead, the successful candidate will work closely with production, process engineering, maintenance, and HSE teams to help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:

Area Optimization

• Monitor facility and gathering system production performance data, identify opportunities and develop reporting for management
• Identify bottlenecks and recommend changes to maximize throughput and recovery working with process engineers
• Monitor uptime, efficiency, losses, and downtime causes

OPEX

• Manage OPEX budget and forecast in partnership with Production Operations team
• Evaluate and implement OPEX improvement opportunities

Maintenance and Operations Support

• MOC evaluation and recommendations
• Support Operations in following Process Safety program
• Plan maintenance outages to minimize downtime and support in turnaround planning
• Evaluate preventive/predictive maintenance plans for critical equipment
• HAZOP participation as required

New Pad On streaming

• Plan and implement tie in strategy for new production with development team
• Provide input to facility engineering team on possible design changes and improvements
• Liaise across teams – Coordinate operations, maintenance, process engineering, and HSE teams

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering from a recognized University (P.Eng preferred)
• Preferred 5-15 years of experience in oil and gas operations, production, or process facilities
• Direct experience with process equipment such as separators, compressors, pumps, and heat exchangers
• Familiarity with SCADA, and other real-time monitoring and reporting systems
• Experience with an upstream oil and gas operator, directly with field operations, is considered an asset
