Job summary

GoodLeaf Farms seeks a Vertical Farm Technician I to support production under the supervision of the Production Supervisor. You may work in one area or rotate between areas, handling seeding, harvesting, packaging, labeling and related tasks to help meet production goals.

The role emphasizes food safety, sanitation and equipment operation, with data collection on crops and assistance with shipping and inventory to ensure timely, quality packaging of products in a cold farm environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in agriculture, food processing, or manufacturing.
  • Able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs and endure cold (6-10°C) temperatures.
  • Mechanical aptitude; comfortable with industrial equipment and tools.
  • Strong organization and time management; good teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Follow GoodLeafFarms Food Safety Policy.
  • Perform general farming tasks including seeding, harvesting, packaging, labeling, waste management, shipping and receiving.
  • Collect basic data on crops and report to leadership or designate.
  • Verify products against sale orders before packaging.
  • Package all orders in accordance with food safety and company guidelines.
  • Operate and set up production and packaging equipment as required.
  • Assist with inventory for shipping packaging material and with shipping activities.
  • Ensure packaging stored at appropriate temperatures and is not damaged.

Job description

The Vertical Farm Technician I (VFT I) perform general duties requiredon the farm and may be assigned to one production area or rotate betweenvarious areas. They work under the guidance of the Production Supervisor, ortheir designate in the production area they are assigned to.

Responsibilities (but not limited to…):

Production

  • Follow GoodLeafFarmsFood SafetyPolicy.
  • Follow practices that enable GoodLeaf Farms to achieve production goals.
  • Perform general farming responsibilities including, but not limited to: seeding, harvesting, packaging, labeling, sanitizing equipment waste management, shipping and receiving, etc.
  • Collect basic data on crops and farm systems to be reported to leadership or designate.
  • Any duties associated with theharvesting process.
  • Verify the products against sale orders before packaging.
  • Package all orders in accordance with food safety and company guidelines.
  • Ensure all products are packaged in an efficient, and safe manner.
  • Ensure product packages stored in appropriate temperatures and is not damaged.
  • Inspect packaging, make sure all information is correct.
  • Assist with performing inventory for shipping packaging material.
  • Assist with the shipping activities.
  • Operates production and packaging equipment, when required.
  • Set up production equipment when required.

Sanitation

  • Follow GoodLeafFarmsFood SafetyPolicy.
  • Adhere, safeguard, and complywith the Standard Sanitization Operating Procedures, Standard OperationProcedures, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Good Manufacturing Practice at all times without exception.
  • Ensure the safe use and storage of all cleaning supplies.
  • Perform a wide range of sanitation responsibilities including but not limited to scrubbing, washing, vacuuming, and disinfecting to ensure that the farm is clean at all times.
  • Collect and remove garbage andensure the safe disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Ensure drains are cleaned andsanitized regularly.
  • Ensure that any work conducted is aligned with sanitation procedures and programs and in compliance with GoodLeaf Farm standards.
  • Conduct cleaning and sanitizing tasks proactively to ensure all farm areas are well maintained to operating producers during and after hours.
  • Ensure all work done is aligned with sanitization excellence usingGMP’s (Good Manufacturing practices) as guiding principles to ensure sanitization standards are consistently and safely achieved.
  • Regularly be on the look and advise Farm leadership of any sanitization deviations observed.

Safety

  • Adhere,safeguard and comply with the Standard Sanitization Operating Procedures, Standard Operation Procedures, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Good Manufacturing Practice at all times without exception
  • Report unsafe and faulty equipment, fixtures, and processes to supervisor
  • Follows and comply with all GoodLeaf Farms, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Provincial and Company Health and Safety standards and Company Safe Quality Foods standards and guidelines.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Educational Requirements:
  • High schooldiploma or equivalent
  • Previousexperience in agriculture, food processing, or manufacturing
  • Able tostand for long periods of time, lift objects of 50 lbs and endure cold (6-10°C)temperatures for extended periods
  • Mechanicalaptitude is an asset; comfortable with industrial equipment and tools
  • Organizationand time management skills
  • Strong workethic and ability to work effectively as part of a team
