Reporting to the Manager, Content Production, this role is responsible for supporting the business side of Shaftesbury’s production team. Specializing in budgeting, financing and tax credit analysis, the production unit is a vital group that performs an integral function in managing productions and collecting financing that keeps the company's wide range of television, digital, and film properties running smoothly.
Main responsibilities include providing guidance to productions as to Shaftesbury’s corporate processes. Providing broadcaster delivery requirements to production, post-production, and publicity. Coordinating, filing and distributing all production paperwork (e.g. call sheets, DPRs, scripts etc.). Preparing, publishing and maintaining production and post-production schedules including any subsequent updates.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Organize production status and monthly funding/application meetings and take and circulate minutes as required.
- Assist in providing above-the-line and below-the-line portions of budgets including rights obligations, writer calculations, producer fee amounts, ACTRA buyout analysis, post-production rates, insurance premium estimates, interim financing requirements, tax credit application fee estimates, and publicity requirements.
- Assist with updating Shaftesbury procedures manual and production paperwork.
- Coordinate production documents to Shaftesbury’s legal team for bank closings and completing applications for funding (CMF, IPF/COGECO/Bell Fund etc.)
- Prepare and deliver production insurance applications and certificates.
- Coordinate additional insurance. I.e. apply for out of the country major medical for travelling cast & crew, work with stunt coordinator to prepare breakdowns for special risk insurance etc.
- Plan for CVOR compliance for each production, as required.
- Assess the need for non-Canadian courtesy credits and work with producers to obtain required affidavits.
- Prepare tax credit calculations based on locked budgets and assist with preparing cashflows to determine interim financing and production cash requirements.
- Prepare and file certification (ISAN, CRTC) and tax credit applications (CAVCO, OMDC etc.) and maintain status reports and compliance.
- Coordinate and maintain all other production information tracking documents (schedules, key personnel declarations and ID’s, episodic crew reference etc.).
- Coordinate and manage billing notes, prepare screen credit templates, and billing block and vet with internal and external stakeholders. Including coordinating the delivery of wrap files and physical materials.
- Review all locked cuts for clearance compliance.
- Ensure all financier payments are requested on a timely basis and any elements required are delivered.
- Ensure technical acceptance and broadcast letters are received from broadcasters, and that the list of broadcast dates is up to date.

- Demonstrates an interest or passion to learn about the business side of film and television production.
- Strong skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years’ administrative experience
- Experience with funding, tax credits and grant applications considered an asset
