Tourmaline Oil in Calgary, Alberta is seeking an Accounting Co-op Student or New Graduate to join the Finance & Accounting team as a Production Accountant. This 12-month opportunity provides hands-on experience in production accounting, revenues, royalties, and reporting from wellhead to sales markets.

You will work with experienced professionals to develop practical skills, collaborate with multiple teams, and build a solid foundation for a career in oil and gas accounting.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Strong foundation in accounting principles and financial statements is preferred.
  • Interest in oil & gas industry and production accounting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with production and revenue accounting for gas plants, facilities, and wells.
  • Collaborate with Field Operations, Joint Venture, Land, and other Accounting teams.
  • Gain exposure to master data management including wells, royalties, and facility charges.
  • Assist with revenue receivable reconciliations and volume variances.
  • Support provincial royalties, annual filings, regulatory reporting, and internal controls.

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Co-op Student or New Graduate to join our Finance & Accounting team as a Production Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting student in their final year or a recent graduate who is looking to launch their career in the oil & gas industry and gain hands-on experience in production accounting.Working alongside experienced accounting professionals, you will develop practical skills in oil and gas revenue, royalties, reconciliations, invoicing, reporting, and production accounting processes. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build a strong foundation in accounting while learning the operational flow of oil & gas products from wellhead to sales markets.Location: Calgary, AlbertaEmployment Type: Co-op / InternDepartment: Finance & AccountingPosition Level: Entry Level / New GraduateTerm: 12 months (Start Date: May 1, 2027)

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:

  • Support and training in production and revenue accounting for non-operated and operated gas plants, oil facilities and associated wells
  • Collaborate with Field Operations, Joint Venture, Land and other Accounting teams
  • Entry level exposure and hands on experience with well, royalty, market master, facility charges and other master data management
  • Booking cost allocations to wells for trucking, treating and any other charges
  • Reconciliation of revenue receivable accounts and volume variances
  • Exposure and training on Provincial Crown Royalties and Annual Filings
  • Government regulatory and monthly reporting
  • Internal Controls and reporting
  • Support on audits, projects and other team initiatives

Experience Requirements

The successful candidate needs to have experience in the following areas in order to be qualified for this role:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration – Accounting, or a related discipline
  • Previous accounting work experience is an asset but not required
