Tourmaline Oil is seeking a motivated Marketing Accountant Co-op/New Graduate to join its Finance & Accounting team in Calgary. You will develop practical skills in accounting, financial analysis, reconciliations, invoicing, reporting, and marketing accounting processes while learning the operational flow of oil & gas products to sales markets.

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Co-op Student or New Graduate to join our Finance & Accounting team as a Marketing Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting student in their final year or a recent graduate who is looking to launch their career in the oil & gas industry and gain hands‑on experience in marketing accounting. Working alongside experienced accounting professionals, you will develop practical skills in accounting, financial analysis, reconciliations, invoicing, reporting, and marketing accounting processes. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build a strong foundation in accounting while learning the operational flow of oil & gas products to sales markets.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:

  • Recording receivables and payables into marketing accounting calculations and account analysis using accounting systems and Excel
  • Work with the Marketing, Production and Financial Accounting teams to ensure transactions are accurately accounted for, and outstanding items are resolved in a timely manner
  • Process and reconcile marketing trucking invoices
  • Assist with the monthly preparation and analysis of the revenue estimate vs actuals
  • Prepare inventory account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Experiment with corporate AI tools and other new technologies to improve accuracy of information recorded and to create efficiencies in workflows
  • Maintain organized accounting documentation and participate in process improvements and accounting projects
  • Participate in team learning activities, focusing on the operational flow of products to markets
  • Develop expertise in marketing accounting, accounts receivable/payable, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, revenue and expense accounting, month‑end and year‑end processes, and stakeholder communication

Experience Requirements

The successful candidate needs to have experience in the following areas in order to be qualified for this role:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration – Accounting, or a related discipline
  • Previous accounting work experience is an asset but not required
