About the Role
Position Summary

The Product Manager is responsible for driving product strategy, market competitiveness, and commercial success for BYD Passenger Vehicles in Canada. This role serves as the key bridge between the Canadian market and headquarter product teams, ensuring that products, pricing, features, and launch strategies align with local customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.The successful candidate will lead market intelligence activities, support product launches, develop localization recommendations, and provide strategic insights to strengthen BYD's position in the Canadian passenger vehicle market.

Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Market Intelligence
  • Conduct comprehensive market research and competitive analysis to understand market trends, consumer preferences, pricing dynamics, government incentive programs, and emerging opportunities within the Canadian automotive industry.
  • Monitor competitor products, pricing strategies, sales performance, and market activities to support BYD's product planning and positioning decisions.
  • Develop detailed market intelligence reports, product benchmarking analyses, and pricing recommendations.
  • Analyze vehicle segments, customer demand, and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and improved product competitiveness.
  • Provide data-driven insights and strategic recommendations to support product planning, pricing, and business decision-making.
Product Performance Management
  • Monitor and evaluate product sales performance, market share, and customer acceptance across the Canadian market.
  • Support the development and implementation of product pricing and positioning strategies.
  • Track product lifecycle performance and recommend actions to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Network Development teams to optimize product performance and market penetration.
Product Launch Management
  • Lead and coordinate product launch activities to ensure successful market introductions across Canada.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Public Relations, Network Development, Aftersales, and Operations teams to deliver launch objectives.
  • Manage launch timelines, product information, training materials, approvals, and supporting assets.
  • Ensure effective communication and alignment among all stakeholders throughout the launch process.
  • Monitor launch performance and gather market feedback to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Product Localization & Market Adaptation
  • Monitor changes in customer preferences, regulatory requirements, government policies, and market conditions to identify localization opportunities.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from customers, dealers, industry partners, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Product Planning, Engineering, Compliance, Supply Chain, and Sales teams to support market-specific product enhancements and feature adaptations.
  • Act as the voice of the Canadian market by translating local requirements into actionable recommendations for global product teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with regional and global stakeholders to align product strategies with business objectives.
  • Support annual business planning, forecasting, and product roadmap discussions.
  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to senior management regarding market trends, product performance, and competitive developments.
Qualifications & Experience
Education & Professional Experie
  • Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in Product Management, Product Planning, Product Marketing, or a related automotive function.
  • Experience within the automotive industry is required.
  • Experience working for an automotive OEM is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian passenger vehicle market, consumer trends, and competitive landscape is highly desirable.

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to transform data into actionable business recommendations.
  • Experience conducting market research, competitor benchmarking, and pricing analysis.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong project management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
Additional Requirements
  • Fluency in English is required; Mandarin and French language proficiency is considered a strong asset.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within Canada as required.
  • Experience supporting vehicle launches, product planning, or market intelligence activities is highly desirable.
