Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs is seeking a software documentation specialist to empower developers with clear API docs and tutorials. You will simplify complex geospatial concepts using ArcGIS Maps SDKs for desktop and mobile apps, and craft guides that improve product understanding.

You will test features, translate customer needs into actionable documentation, and engage the developer community through blogs, videos, and social channels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, computer science, or a related field required/strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Dive into ArcGIS Maps SDKs and help developers create geospatial apps for desktop and mobile.
  • Create clear guides, tutorials, and API documentation for complex concepts.
  • Test new features to ensure accurate workflows for all versions and products.
  • Understand developer needs and translate into actionable code and documentation improvements.
  • Triage and address customer-reported documentation issues.
  • Engage with the community via blogs, videos, and social media to inform and inspire.

Are you a software developer with a passion for APIs and programming technologies and sharing your passion with other developers?

Key Responsibilities
  • Dive into the world of ArcGIS Maps SDKs and empower developers to craft amazing geospatial apps for desktop and mobile
  • Tell the story behind the tech; create clear, helpful guides, tutorials, and API documentation that make complex concepts easy to understand
  • Test new features to ensure new workflows and endpoints are accurately represented for all supported versions and products
  • Understand customer (developer) needs and translate that into actionable code and documentation improvements
  • Triage and address customer reported documentation issues
  • Share the love! Connect with our community through blogs, videos, and social media to keep them informed and inspired
  • Be the face of the product and help users succeed by supporting them at conferences and in online forums
Requirements
  • Experience with documentation workflows that use any of the following: Markdown, YAML, JSON, HTML, CSS, JSX/MDX, or HTML templates
  • Ability to pick up new tech concepts quickly; break down complex API into clear, concise, and compelling stories and effectively communicate them
  • Solid understanding of Git and an ability to learn and work with industry-standard content management tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, computer science, or a related field
  • Experience with technical writing and/or blog content
  • Working experience with ArcGIS products is a great asset
  • Master’s in computer science, engineering, GIS or related field
