Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs is hiring a Software Engineer to implement, test, and maintain capabilities in the Web GIS SDK core libraries and web component packages. You will build reusable components, follow API conventions, and help design clear APIs while resolving defects of moderate complexity.

You will write automated tests, contribute to documentation, and ensure performance, accessibility, and internationalization requirements are met.

Qualifications

  • Ability to apply software engineering principles such as modular design, abstraction, maintainability, and automated testing.
  • Familiarity with standards-based web components or component-based development using a modern web framework.
  • Familiarity with source control, package management, and software build tools.
  • Ability to follow established engineering practices and apply feedback from code and design reviews.
  • Ability to analyze problems, consider relevant factors, and implement solutions with appropriate guidance.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, GIS, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with API compatibility, versioning, and deprecation concepts.
  • Experience with web GIS technologies, mapping libraries, spatial data formats, or geospatial services.
  • Experience with Astro, Storybook, or comparable documentation and component-development tools.
  • Familiarity with monorepos and shared-package development.
  • Experience with test automation, continuous integration, build tooling, or software release workflows.
  • Familiarity with web accessibility, internationalization, or localization practices.
  • Interest in developer tools, technical documentation, and developer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and team planning.
