Healthy Planet in Brampton is looking for a Produce Specialist to elevate our fruits and vegetables program. You will curate displays, guide ripeness, educate customers, and mentor teammates to build a vibrant, wellness-focused produce department.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in a produce or fresh food retail environment.
• Deep understanding of produce quality, seasonality, and merchandising principles.
• Strong communication and customer engagement skills
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Passion for health, wellness, and sustainability
• Completion of required training modules
• Demonstrated attendance, punctuality, team collaboration, and reliability

Responsibilities

• Engage customers with knowledge of produce—seasonality, taste, preparation, and sourcing.
• Provide tailored recommendations based on customer needs and wellness goals.
• Educate customers and teammates on product handling and storage to reduce waste and improve quality.
• Promote new and seasonal products through demos and in-store conversation.
• Lead execution of compelling produce displays reflecting brand values and current trends.
• Ensure pricing, signage, and merchandising standards are up to date and visually appealing.
• Monitor quality, freshness, and rotation to ensure best-in-class presentation and minimal spoilage.
• Collaborate on product assortment decisions and bring new ideas to elevate the department.
• Support store leadership in maintaining proper inventory levels, seasonal transitions, and order reviews.
• Identify improvement areas in shrink reduction, sustainability practices, and storage methods.
• Assist with receiving, storage, and prepping of produce, following SOPs.
• Mentor Produce Associates by sharing knowledge and helping them grow in the role.

Job description

As a Produce Specialist at Healthy Planet, you’re not just stocking fruits and vegetables—you’re setting the standard for freshness, quality, and connection. With your deep knowledge of seasonality, sourcing, and food education, you’ll transform the produce department into a destination for discovery and wellness.

From curating vibrant displays to guiding customers on ripeness, prep, and nutrition, you’ll bring both expertise and heart to every shift. You’ll collaborate closely with leadership and mentor teammates, helping to shape a produce experience that’s fresh, inspiring, and unforgettable.

The typical hiring range for this position is $20 to $21. Final compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience, skill set, internal equity, and organizational needs. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Key Responsibilities
