Job summary

Healthy Planet in Brampton is seeking a Produce Leader to mentor the produce team, deliver exceptional freshness, and create inspiring displays. You will drive smart merchandising, reduce waste, and uphold sustainable practices while delivering outstanding customer experiences.

You will guide Lessonly training, coach associates, and implement seasonal strategies to enhance sales and service. This role emphasizes wellness, teamwork, and a customer-first approach in a fast-paced grocery setting.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in produce, grocery, or fresh food retail, with 2+ years in a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of produce seasonality, quality indicators, handling, and merchandising
• Excellent communication, team leadership, and customer service skills
• Experience in inventory management and ordering
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Familiarity with POS systems, receiving procedures, and store-level reporting
• Passion for health, nutrition, and sustainable food practices
• Completion of required Lessonly training modules
• Demonstrated attendance, punctuality, team collaboration, and reliability

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and inspire a team of Produce Associates and Specialists to maintain excellence in execution and service
• Set clear expectations and ensure completion of Lessonly training for all team members
• Create and maintain SOPs for day-to-day tasks and safety standards
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and customer-first thinking
• Model consistent attendance, punctuality, team collaboration, and reliability
• Maintain an enthusiastic, customer-aware environment with fast, friendly service
• Engage customers with expert product recommendations and wellness insights
• Promote new and seasonal produce with passion and knowledge
• Implement in-store demos, tastings, and educational interactions
• Oversee receiving, dating, and verification of produce shipments
• Maintain fresh displays reflecting seasonality and brand values
• Ensure accurate pricing and signage at all times
• Trim, prep, wrap, and present produce with precision and care
• Create compelling endcaps, focal points, and grab-and-go solutions
• Monitor shrink and manage spoilage to minimize waste while maintaining quality
• Plan seasonal transitions and anticipate department needs
• Continually assess and improve produce assortment
• Develop and implement promotional ideas to drive sales and customer interest
• Ensure cleanliness, safety, and organization in the department and backroom
• Monitor equipment like scales, pallet jacks, and wrappers
• Track KPIs related to quality, wastage, inventory flow, and team performance
• Promote and embed sustainability practices throughout the department
• Ongoing participation in workshops and brand education sessions
• Demonstrated commitment to attendance, punctuality, team collaboration, and reliability
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

As a Produce Leader at Healthy Planet, you’re more than a fresh food expert—you’re a mentor, motivator, and champion of quality. You’ll lead the produce team to deliver exceptional freshness, inspiring displays, and outstanding customer experiences every day.

You’ll bring your passion for produce and wellness to every decision, helping the department thrive through smart merchandising, waste reduction, and sustainable practices.

The typical hiring range for this position is $23 to $24. Final compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience, skill set, internal equity, and organizational needs. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development
