Your Opportunity:
As a Procurement Specialist II, you will perform complex purchasing functions consistent with established AHS procurement policies, practices, laws, and trade agreements. You will be responsible for the acquisition of supplies, minor equipment, services or supporting functions within assigned work groups. You will perform the acquisition process primarily for purchases of a transactional nature which includes researching/collating information, preparation of requests for quotations, review of quotations, creation of purchase agreements, and issuance of purchase orders. Under the direction of the Manager, you will coordinate and monitor assigned team purchasing activities; acts as a source of knowledge by answering questions, providing technical advice, and assisting in the training of staff.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of post-secondary degree in Business or Supply Management. Post-secondary education, minimum undergraduate degree related to business administration or a health care related discipline. Demonstrated equivalency and experience may be considered. Experience working with a health care organization of significant size, complexity and diversity with a demonstrated working knowledge of corporate culture. Proven record of independent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Proven record of strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to articulate stakeholder needs both internal to AHS and the supplier community to achieve best outcome of service delivery. Continuous learning is critical to keep pace with the environmental and operational changes. Dispute resolution and mediation experience. Experience in facilitation/coordination of project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Must be detailed oriented and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be self-lead and self-motivated. Must be able to work independently and with a group.
Preferred Qualifications:
Project management, process design and stakeholder engagement experience within a contracting framework is preferred. Healthcare experience, preferably in community and continuing care is an asset.
