Job description

Our client, the Government of Canada, is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Procurement Specialist to join their team in a full-time, 12 month contract capacity in Edmonton. This role is ideal for a professional with strong experience in public sector procurement, solicitation documentation, and vendor evaluation processes. If you’re a strategic thinker with exceptional organizational and communication skills, we’d love to hear from you!

Responsibilities:
  1. Refine and translate business and technical requirements into RFX solicitation documents in alignment with project goals.
  2. Support the development of procurement strategies and project delivery planning.
  3. Prepare and review RFX documents, including identifying subprojects that may require separate solicitations.
  4. Assist in interpreting RFX requirements for vendors and develop clear, written responses to vendor inquiries.
  5. Develop evaluation plans and criteria, selection methodologies, and final award recommendations.
  6. Review vendor proposals for compliance, accuracy, and quality.
  7. Create supporting documentation in accordance with Government of Alberta procurement policies.
  8. Coordinate and schedule bidder conferences and vendor presentations, including agenda development.
  9. Assist with the debriefing of unsuccessful vendors and respond to post-evaluation inquiries.
  10. Finalize contracts with recommended vendors and conduct post-procurement reviews.
  11. Prepare procurement evaluation reports and maintain accurate, organized contract records.
Requirements:
  1. Post-secondary education in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field; relevant certifications are an asset.
  2. 3+ years of experience in procurement or contract management, preferably within the public sector.
  3. Solid understanding of public procurement processes, RFX preparation, and vendor evaluation.
  4. Exceptional written communication skills with experience drafting official documentation and correspondence.
  5. Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders efficiently.
  8. Experience with procurement regulations and policies within government settings is highly desirable.
