BWXT Medical Ltd. provides its customers, who conduct life-saving medical procedures for patients around the world, the benefit of decades of experience in the development, manufacturing, packaging and delivery of medical isotopes and radiopharmaceuticals. Headquartered in Kanata, Ontario, BWXT Medical Ltd. employs over 300 highly-skilled people in Kanata and Vancouver, British Columbia. BWXT Medical Ltd. is part of the BWXT nuclear power segment (NPG) of BWX Technologies, Inc.

We are currently recruiting for a Procurement Manager for our facility in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

JOB OVERVIEW

To manage the risk and opportunities associated with responsibility for all company purchases and to ensure company requirements for quality, cost and schedule are achieved. To maintain and develop supplier relations at management levels. To manage the sections resources effectively, ensuring personnel are motivated, trained, developed and department is operating efficiently within established budgets.

JOB STRUCTURE AND COMMUNICATIONS
  • Reports to the Director of Supply Chain
  • Will be responsible for procurement activities for both Fuel Operations at Nuclear Energy Canada (NEC)(30%) and BWXT Medical (70%)
  • Team of buyers report to this role.
  • Strong conveying, influencing & negotiating skills with both suppliers and internal departments is required
ACCOUNTABILITIES

Section Resources Management

  • Manage budget, salary and performance reviews, providing executive management with performance measures, benchmarks, statistics and reports related to section performance and projects
  • Ensure supplier quality, on-time delivery, and cost levels are consistent with BWXT standards and policies
  • Negotiate savings across a diverse supply chain
  • Develop section procedures and guidelines as well as setting section operating standards/policies relative to procurement

Contract Negotiations

  • Lead the negotiation of major purchases and the strategic discussions at supplier locations.

Develop/Approve Strategies

  • Ensure strategies are developed to provide optimum competitive advantage to BWXT.
  • Develop and approve procurement strategies in conjunction with staff.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships through regular meetings with key supplier senior staff.
  • Resolve supplier conflicts when necessary.

Process Improvement

  • Actively participate in the process improvement team
  • Direct initiatives on quality, cost reductions, and process/efficiency improvements

Staff Management & Development

  • Conduct annual performance reviews and staff meetings, conduct interviews and approve

Compliance

  • Understand and ensure staff compliance with applicable external codes, regulations and guidelines as well as internal standards set by BWXT.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • Technical Degree/Diploma or Technical certifications in the areas of Supply Management, Logistics or related fields.
  • Typically, fifteen (15) or more years’ experience in procurement &/or equivalent work-related experience.
  • Supervisory/managerial experience in Supply Management &/or Logistics.
  • Demonstrated management capability at a senior level
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Material/product knowledge

The base salary range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON) at the start of employment is expected to be between $133,000 and $184,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
