Procurement Manager

We are currently recruiting for a Procurement Manager for our facility in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Job Overview

Manage risks and opportunities associated with all company purchases, ensuring requirements for quality, cost, and schedule are met. Develop and maintain supplier relations at management levels. Manage department resources effectively, motivating, training, and developing personnel, while operating within established budgets.

Job Structure and Communications

• Reports to the Director of Supply Chain
• Responsible for procurement activities for Fuel Operations at Nuclear Energy Canada (NEC) (30%) and BWXT Medical (70%)
• Leads a team of buyers
• Requires strong influencing, negotiating, and communication skills with suppliers and internal departments

Accountabilities

Section Resources Management

• Manage budget, salaries, performance reviews, and provide performance metrics and reports
• Ensure supplier quality, on-time delivery, and cost standards are maintained
• Negotiate savings across the supply chain
• Manage and develop staff
• Develop procedures and standards for procurement

Contract Negotiations

• Lead negotiations for major purchases and strategic discussions with suppliers

Develop/Approve Strategies

• Create strategies to provide competitive advantages
• Develop and approve procurement strategies with staff

Supplier Relationship

• Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers
• Resolve conflicts when necessary

Process Improvement

• Participate in process improvement initiatives
• Lead quality, cost reduction, and efficiency projects

Staff Management & Development

• Conduct performance reviews and staff meetings

Compliance

• Ensure staff compliance with external and internal standards and regulations

Knowledge and Experience

• Technical Degree/Diploma or certifications in Supply Management, Logistics, or related fields
• 15+ years’ experience in procurement or related fields
• Supervisory/managerial experience in Supply Management or Logistics
• Strong business acumen, analytical, negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Material/product knowledge

Compensation

The salary range in Ontario is expected to be between $133,000 and $184,000 annually, based on market factors and individual qualifications. The total package may include incentives and benefits, details of which will be provided upon offer.
