Procurement Manager

We are currently recruiting for a Procurement Manager for our facility in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

JOB OVERVIEW

To manage the risks and opportunities associated with all company purchases, ensuring requirements for quality, cost, and schedule are met. To maintain and develop supplier relations at management levels. To manage the section's resources effectively, ensuring personnel are motivated, trained, and the department operates efficiently within established budgets.

JOB STRUCTURE AND COMMUNICATIONS

• Reports to the Director of Supply Chain
• Responsible for procurement activities for Fuel Operations at Nuclear Energy Canada (NEC) (30%) and BWXT Medical (70%)
• Team of buyers report to this role
• Requires strong conveying, influencing, and negotiating skills with suppliers and internal departments

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Section Resources Management

• Manage budget, salaries, and performance reviews; provide performance metrics and reports
• Ensure supplier quality, on-time delivery, and cost levels meet BWXT standards
• Negotiate savings across the supply chain
• Manage staff, including motivation, coaching, training, and development
• Develop procedures, guidelines, and standards for procurement

Contract Negotiations

• Lead negotiations for major purchases and strategic discussions with suppliers

Develop/Approve Strategies

• Develop strategies to provide competitive advantage
• Develop and approve procurement strategies with staff

Supplier Relationship

• Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers
• Resolve conflicts as necessary

Process Improvement

• Participate in process improvement initiatives
• Lead efforts on quality, cost reduction, and efficiency

Staff Management & Development

• Conduct performance reviews, staff meetings, and interviews

Compliance

• Ensure staff compliance with external codes, regulations, and internal standards

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• Technical Degree/Diploma or certifications in Supply Management, Logistics, or related fields
• Fifteen (15) or more years’ procurement or related experience
• Supervisory/managerial experience in supply management or logistics
• Proven senior management capability
• Strong business acumen, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Material/product knowledge
