Procurement Manager

We are currently recruiting for a Procurement Manager for our facility in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Job Overview

To manage the risks and opportunities associated with all company purchases, ensuring that quality, cost, and schedule requirements are met. Develop and maintain supplier relationships at management levels. Manage department resources effectively, motivating, training, and developing personnel to operate efficiently within established budgets.

Job Structure and Communications

• Reports to the Director of Supply Chain
• Responsible for procurement activities for Fuel Operations at Nuclear Energy Canada (NEC) (30%) and BWXT Medical (70%)
• Supervises a team of buyers
• Requires strong conveying, influencing, and negotiating skills with suppliers and internal departments

Accountabilities

• Manage budget, salaries, and performance reviews; provide management with performance metrics and reports
• Ensure supplier quality, on-time delivery, and cost standards are maintained
• Negotiate savings across the supply chain
• Manage staff development and motivation
• Develop procurement procedures, standards, and policies

Contract Negotiations

• Lead negotiations for major purchases and strategic discussions with suppliers
• Develop and approve procurement strategies to provide competitive advantages

Supplier Relationship Management

• Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers through regular meetings
• Resolve conflicts when necessary

Process Improvement

• Participate in process improvement initiatives
• Lead efforts in quality, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancements

Staff Management & Development

• Conduct performance reviews, staff meetings, and interviews; approve hiring decisions

Compliance

• Ensure staff compliance with external regulations and internal standards

Knowledge and Experience

• Technical Degree/Diploma or certifications in Supply Management, Logistics, or related fields
• 15+ years of procurement or related experience
• Supervisory/managerial experience in Supply Management or Logistics
• Strong business acumen, analytical skills, negotiation skills, and material/product knowledge
