Job summary

Maersk Canada is seeking a Procurement Assistant Manager, Logistics & Services to strengthen the procurement function across the Canada portfolio. This role focuses on analytics, supplier insights, and spend visibility to drive better decision-making and cost competitiveness.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic sourcing, contract visibility, and value realization while developing TCO models and market benchmarks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level degree required in a related field and 3–5 years’ procurement or logistics experience.
  • Graduate degree or professional designation (MBA, CIPS, SCMP) considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain visibility of supplier spend, external cost drivers, supplier performance, and procurement opportunities across Canada Logistics & Services.
  • Develop and maintain TCO and should-cost models to support sourcing strategies and negotiations.
  • Create external market benchmarks and competitive intelligence to identify savings opportunities and support growth.
  • Conduct supplier, market, operational, and commercial analyses to support sourcing decisions and category strategies.

Procurement Assistant Manager, Logistics and Services (Canada)

The Procurement Assistant Manager, Logistics & Services supports the Canada Procurement organization by developing procurement intelligence, supplier insights, spend visibility, sourcing analytics, and category support capabilities that enable improved decision-making, cost competitiveness, and business performance.

The role supports a broad range of Logistics & Services categories, including Trucking, Rail, Depots, Warehousing, Distribution, Terminal Operations, and other transportation and logistics-related services. Working closely with Category Managers, Operations, Product, Commercial, and Finance stakeholders, the position provides market intelligence, supplier analysis, sourcing support, contract visibility, value realization tracking, and procurement governance support.

A key objective of the role is to help build a fact-based procurement organization by creating greater visibility into external costs, supplier performance, market dynamics, and category opportunities. The Assistant Manager will support strategic sourcing initiatives and continuous improvement activities while developing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models, should-cost models, external market benchmarks, and commercial insights that drive cost leadership, supplier competitiveness, value creation, and profitable growth across the Canadian business.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain visibility of supplier spend, external cost drivers, supplier performance, and procurement opportunities across the Canada Logistics & Services portfolio.

Develop, maintain, and enhance Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models, should-cost models, and cost-driver analyses to support sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and commercial decision-making.

Develop and maintain external market benchmarks, industry cost indicators, and competitive intelligence to identify savings opportunities, improve cost competitiveness, and support profitable growth.

Conduct supplier, market, operational, and commercial analyses to support sourcing decisions, category strategies, and business planning.

Support strategic sourcing initiatives through RFx development, data analysis, commercial evaluations, supplier assessments, and negotiation preparation.

Build and maintain supplier intelligence, including supplier capabilities, capacity, market positioning, risk profile, financial health, and performance information.

Track and report procurement value delivery, including savings, cost avoidance, implementation progress, and value realization.

Develop management reporting, dashboards, and analytical tools that improve procurement decision-making, category visibility, and business performance.

Develop and track metrics and KPIs to monitor procurement performance, supplier compliance, and category outcomes.

Support supplier performance management activities, business reviews, and governance processes.

Assist with contract visibility, contract management, compliance monitoring, and supplier governance activities.

Support supplier ESG and responsible sourcing initiatives by monitoring adherence to Maersk's Supplier Code of Conduct, conducting supplier due diligence, promoting safety and ethical practices, and identifying opportunities to advance Maersk's sustainability objectives.

Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Product, Commercial, and Procurement stakeholders to identify cost competitiveness, productivity, and value creation opportunities.

Support procurement process improvement, governance initiatives, digitalization efforts, and strategic projects as required.

Implement digital sourcing tools, AI-enabled solutions, and other technological advancements to improve scalability and efficiency.

Maintain a strong understanding of market trends, transportation cost drivers, warehousing economics, labor dynamics, fuel impacts, and other factors influencing Logistics & Services spend categories.

Support the development of category strategies by providing analytical insights, benchmark data, supplier intelligence, and financial modelling

Required qualification, experience and skills:

Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, Finance or a related discipline.

Graduate degree, MBA, CIPS, SCMP or other relevant professional designation considered an asset.

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics or a related commercial role.

Prior experience supporting sourcing initiatives, supplier management, procurement operations or category management activities is preferred.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights and recommendations.

Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build relationships across multiple functions and levels of the organization.

Ability to collaborate, influence and drive business outcomes within a matrix organizational environment.

Commercially minded with an interest in supplier markets, external cost drivers and logistics industry trends.

Customer-focused mindset with the ability to balance stakeholder needs, operational requirements and commercial objectives.

Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience working with data visualization or reporting tools is considered an asset.

Self-starter with intellectual curiosity, continuous improvement mindset and a desire to build capability within a growing Procurement organization.

Pay Range: $80,000-$90,000 CAD

*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location.
