Role Description
The Procurement Assistant will be responsible for assisting and coordinating the daily operations of the procurement department, including food and non-food items. The role involves maintaining an efficient supply chain and ensuring compliance with relevant standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, with strong analytical skills, focused on quality and compliance in supply chain management.
Responsibilities
- Provide spend analysis and reporting, continuously seeking cost-saving opportunities and tracking realized savings.
- Develop and maintain successful relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Conduct independent internal audits of food and non-food purchases to identify potential cost savings.
- Implement procurement strategies, maintain stock levels, and plan for contingencies through alternative supply sources for critical items. Review category management strategies regularly to ensure vendor benefits are delivered and optimized.
- Research and identify potential new suppliers, goods, and services locally and internationally.
- Monitor local and global supply trends to anticipate and mitigate potential shortages without compromising service, quality, or availability.
- Assist in the tender management process.
- Manage vendors to meet contract requirements, including qualification, targets, and continuous improvement.
- Review supplier performance regularly concerning price, service, and quality, exploring better alternatives regionally or globally.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Maintain proper storage conditions for procured items.
- Implement and monitor loss prevention standards.
Qualifications
- Experience in procurement, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
- Experience in the airline catering industry is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with HACCP, GMP, and ISO standards.
