The Project

This major national rail programme is focused on delivering a modern, electrified high‑speed corridor that will strengthen connectivity between key urban centres. The scheme aims to significantly reduce journey times, enhance passenger capacity, and support long term decarbonisation goals. Development is progressing toward phased delivery over the next decade.

Provides strategic leadership to category leads, driving high‑quality delivery and functional development. Leads and develops teams to achieve targets, strengthens key client and stakeholder relationships, and oversees performance, capability and career growth. Shapes and implements strategies and workstreams, acting as a professional and impactful role model across the function.

You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Leads category management teams and high‑value tender activity.
  • Builds strong senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Oversees performance, capability and career development.
  • Provides expert due diligence and market insight.
  • Drives process, performance and commercial value.
  • Develops and embeds strategic plans.
  • Role‑models leadership behaviours.
  • Supports net‑zero delivery through proactive carbon management.
You’ll Need To Have
  • Experience delivering major rail or high speed programmes, ideally within the design or early set up stages.
  • Strong commercial, tender and negotiation expertise at executive level.
  • Proven project delivery with construction and market knowledge.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and analytical tools.
  • Degree‑educated; CIPS or equivalent industry qualifications preferred.

Note: The estimated salary for this position is $150,000 - 230,000. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
