Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Oakville, Canada seeks a Process Technician - Chrome for onsite work. You will chrome plate aircraft components, prepare parts, and set up fixtures and tooling while ensuring customer specs are met.

The role requires 1–3 years in process chemistry, reading blueprints, hand tools experience, and English communication. Training is provided and safety rules apply; remote work is not offered.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with 1–3 years process chemistry background.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints is required.
  • Experience using hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Eligible to work in Canada; ITAR/CCGP compliance required.
  • Preferred Degree: Chemical Engineering.
  • Chrome plating experience is an asset.
  • Verbal and written English communication skills.
  • WHMIS knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Chrome plating of aircraft components according to customer specs.
  • Prepare components and develop work techniques; mask parts as required.
  • Set up fixtures, load/unload tanks, maintain chemistry and tooling.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams; support other plating applications.
  • Participate in lean initiatives (5S, TPM, process improvement).
  • Communicate priorities and process issues across shifts.
  • Adhere to safety policies; wear PPE; complete training within 3 months.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Collins aerospace is looking to hire Process Technician - Chrome; Reporting to the Plating & Processing Supervisor, the Process Technician - Chrome will be involved in the chrome plating of aircraft components.

Work Shift: Weekday Afternoon (Monday-Thursday) 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM

What You Will Do
  • Chrome plating of aircraft components, including preparation of components, to customer specifications and development of work techniques
  • Part masking will be part of the regular duties of this position
  • Part fixturing, loading and unloading Tank/chemistry maintenance and associated tooling
  • Act as a cross functional team member and support other plating applications as requested
  • Participate in lean initiatives (i.e. 5S, TPM, process improvement teams)
  • Communicate and co-ordinate priorities and process issues between operators and shifts
  • Observe and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Can fully achieve the responsibilities of the position within a training time of 3 months.
  • Candidate will be expected to wear appropriate PPE
  • Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, with 1 - 3 years previous process chemistry background; Experience in measuring equipment such as calipers and Elco meters
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Experience in using various hand tools.
  • The selected candidate has to be eligible to work in Canada; successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP Qualifications
  • We Prefer Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Prior chrome plating experience would be considered an asset
  • Verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a cross-functional employee
  • Strong understanding of WHMIS Qualifications We Prefer.
  • Strong understanding of WHMIS.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 61,334 CAD - 81,003 CAD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
