Job summary

OTI Lumionics Inc. is seeking a hands-on R&D/production technician to operate lab and pilot equipment, perform material testing, and support engineers with maintenance. The role requires a science/engineering background and the ability to work across shifts.

You will help process data and prepare reports while following strict safety and environmental guidelines. Ideal candidates have strong organizational and communication skills, and are capable of contributing to fast-paced development work

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate R&D and/or production equipment following SOP
• Perform sample testing (transmittance/reflectance, IVL, OLED degradation)
• Assist engineers with repairing, modifying and setting up equipment
• Assist with lab/equipment maintenance tasks
• Assist with data processing and report preparation
• Provide feedback to software engineers on improvements to equipment software
• Adhere to Safe Work Practices and environmental policies
• Work all shifts including weekends and holidays
• Maintain health and safety standards

OTI Lumionics is developing advanced materials—by design—using quantum simulations, machine learning and real-world testing in pilot production. We are currently focused on key enabling materials for OLED displays that will be used in next-generation consumer electronics and automotive. Our advanced electrode materials, and associated manufacturing technology, are being used to build transparent displays and lighting. We work closely with our partners and customers to design new materials that are mass-production ready. Using our computational Materials Discovery Platform, we are able to rapidly iterate new materials, allowing fast turn around time to meet our customers’ needs.

primary responsibilities

• Follow SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) to operate R&D and/or production equipment.
• Follow SOP to perform sample testing, which may include but not limited to transmittance and reflectance measurements of thin film samples, OLED device performance measurements such as IVL (current-voltage-luminance) characteristics, OLED degradation measurement, etc.
• Assist facility engineers in repairing, modifying and setting up new equipment.
• Assist process engineers with maintenance tasks for R&D and/or production equipment and the laboratory.
• Assist process engineers with data processing and report preparation.
• Provide feedback to software engineers on potential improvement to programs and software for R&D and/or production equipment developed by OTI Lumionics.
• Perform all tasks in accordance with established Safe Work Practices and Standard, Operating Procedures.
• Must have the ability to work all shifts (e.g. morning and evening shifts, weekend shifts, and holiday shifts).
• Ensure compliance with environmental policies, procedures, and objectives, and actively participate in the identification and reduction of environmental impacts related to the role
• Adhere to health and safety protocols, report hazards, and contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
