Job summary

Hatch in Mississauga, ON, Canada, is seeking a Chemical/Metallurgical Engineer to design flowsheets and support feasibility studies for metals projects, including lithium and rare earths. You will develop mass balance models and provide design inputs to engineers and designers.

Qualifications

  • Process experience in engineering contracting or consultancy in the metallurgical industry.
  • Experience in hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy for metals (lithium, nickel, cobalt, copper, zinc, gold, rare earths) preferred.
  • Qualified in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Good general computer literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in feasibility studies and detailed design for metals; particularly lithium, rare earths and other battery material related projects.
  • Prepare design calculations and documentation and development of mass balance models in simulation software (METSIM, SysCAD, IDEAS).
  • Provide process design requirements to designers.
  • Prepare process equipment data sheets, including technical details and duties as required.
  • Ensure process specifications portray the appropriate information and design intent.
  • Participate in Hazops.
  • Work with the project team to prepare capital and operating cost estimates.
  • Assist in plant commissioning for metals, battery material and rare earths

As the successful candidate, you will:

You bring to the role:
  • Process experience in either an engineering contracting environment or consultancy organisations in the metallurgical industry. Experience in the design and operation of hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy processes for metals - lithium, nickel, cobalt, copper, zinc, gold and rare earths will be highly regarded, as will operational experience.
  • Recognised qualifications in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Good general computer literacy

Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000
