Process Engineer - Metals

Job Overview
We are looking for a process engineer to design, evaluate, and optimize metallurgical processes for metals including lithium, rare earths, and other battery materials. The role will involve feasibility studies, detailed design, cost estimation, and plant commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Design flowsheets for each unique ore or feedstock, optimizing the business case for implementation.
• Assist in feasibility studies and detailed design for metals; particularly lithium, rare earths, and other battery material related projects.
• Prepare design calculations and documentation and develop mass‑balance models in simulation software (METSIM, SysCAD, IDEAS).
• Provide process design requirements to designers.
• Prepare process equipment data sheets, including technical details and duties as required.
• Ensure process specifications portray the appropriate information and design intent.
• Participate in Hazops.
• Work with the project team to prepare capital and operating cost estimates.
• Assist in plant commissioning for metals, battery material, and rare earths.

Qualifications

• Process experience in an engineering contracting environment or consultancy organization in the metallurgical industry. Experience in the design and operation of hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy processes for metals – lithium, nickel, cobalt, copper, zinc, gold, and rare earths – will be highly regarded, as will operational experience.
• Recognized qualifications in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Planning and organizational skills.
• Good general computer literacy.

Base Salary Range: $90,000 – $120,000
