Job summary

Hatch in Mississauga, ON is seeking an experienced Metal Process Engineer to design flowsheets for ore feeds and optimize feasibility studies for metals projects, including lithium, rare earths and other battery materials.

You will develop mass balance models using METSIM, SysCAD and IDEAS, prepare process equipment data sheets, and support capital and operating cost estimates alongside the project team.

Qualifications

• Experience in hydrometallurgy or pyrometallurgy within metals industries.
• Degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design flowsheets for each unique ore or feedstock, optimizing the business case for implementation.
• Assist in feasibility studies and detailed design for metals, including lithium, rare earths and related projects.
• Prepare design calculations and mass balance models in simulation software (METSIM, SysCAD, IDEAS).
• Provide process design requirements to designers.
• Prepare process equipment data sheets with technical details and duties.
• Ensure process specifications portray the design intent.
• Participate in Hazops.
• Work with the project team to prepare capital and operating cost estimates.
• Assist in plant commissioning for metals, battery materials and rare earths.

As The Successful Candidate, You Will

• Design flowsheets for each unique ore or feedstock, optimizing the business case for implementation
• Assist in feasibility studies and detailed design for metals; particularly lithium, rare earths and other battery material related projects
• Prepare design calculations and documentation and development of mass balance models in simulation software (METSIM, SysCAD, IDEAS)
• Provide process design requirements to designers
• Prepare process equipment data sheets, including technical details and duties as required.
• Ensure process specifications portray the appropriate information and design intent.
• Participate in Hazops
• Work with the project team to prepare capital and operating cost estimates.
• Assist in plant commissioning for metals, battery material and rare earths

You Bring To The Role

• Process experience in either an engineering contracting environment or consultancy organisations in the metallurgical industry. Experience in the design and operation of hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy processes for metals - lithium, nickel, cobalt, copper, zinc, gold and rare earths will be highly regarded, as will operational experience.
• Recognised qualifications in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited college or university
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Planning and organizational skills
• Good general computer literacy

Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000
