Position Title: Process Engineer
Department: Engineering
Division: AGI Food
Location: Woodbridge, ON

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our team in Woodbridge, ON. You will work with a team of Process Engineers on designing and implementing projects within the Food and Beverage Industry.

Responsibilities

  1. Analyze, design, and implement cost-saving initiatives, including energy and utility audits.
  2. Perform feasibility studies and process designs for new product launches, facility upgrades, and process improvements.
  3. Apply engineering fundamentals in bulk powder and dry ingredient handling, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
  4. Conduct field measurements to determine design requirements.
  5. Research and apply relevant codes and regulations.
  6. Draft reports with recommendations for process improvements.
  7. Identify equipment capabilities, utility and infrastructure needs, and develop Process Flow Diagrams and layout concepts.
  8. Manage and coordinate with design teams, engineering disciplines, and vendors.
  9. Create control narratives to support process programming per customer specifications.
  10. Support contractors in the field and inspect installations to ensure compliance with project designs.
  11. Ensure safety standards are maintained during installations.
  12. Commission systems through testing and troubleshooting; collaborate with vendor technicians as needed.
  13. Engage in continuous professional development through engineering courses.
  14. Develop and update project requirements and specifications.
  15. Assist in preparing bills of materials.
  16. Conduct client site visits and prepare reports or updates.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  2. 3+ years of process design experience in the beverage, dairy, food, or pet food industries.
  3. Strong technical skills.
  4. Adherence to Engineering Best Practices.
  5. Knowledge of CFIA, FDA, and USDA food equipment and design standards.
  6. Understanding of GMPs, area designations, and clean design requirements in food plants.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  8. Organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Flexibility to work hours, including weekends if necessary.
  11. Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel to client sites.
  12. Valid passport.
  13. Professional Engineer designation is an asset.
