PROCESS ENGINEER

Position Summary :

Reporting to the Director, Process and Technology, we are seeking a full-time Process Engineer specializing in gas processing to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. The Process Engineer will provide process engineering expertise to support the design and optimization of the gas processing infrastructure, which is part of the lithium facility that will process lithium from the Leduc reservoir brine. This includes two-phase separation, sour gas handling, and acid gas compression and injection.

Mandate :

Deliver a safe and highly optimized gas processing facility design.

Responsibilities

1. Support the design, review, and execution of process engineering deliverables throughout all engineering stages, including Feasibility and Process Studies, Conceptual Design, DBM Development, FEED, and Detailed Engineering Design.
2. Provide expert guidance on sour gas separation and processing, acid gas compression, acid gas injection and co-injection, and gas sweetening units.
3. Support the design, review, and execution of gas processing infrastructure; develop and validate process simulations and modeling for gas processing facilities.
4. Author and review critical design documents, including material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, shutdown keys, control narratives, and Process Engineering reports.
5. Verify line sizing, PSV sizing, and prepare equipment process data sheets.
6. Oversee and participate in P&ID / PHA (HAZOP) reviews, ensuring safety and operational compliance.
7. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards (API, ASME, ISO).
8. Collaborate with other disciplines, vendors, and stakeholders to progress deliverables and resolve engineering challenges.
9. Provide technical support during commissioning, startup, and operational troubleshooting.
10. If possessing pipeline expertise: develop pipeline process simulations, conduct hydraulic analysis/studies, and document results.

Education & Experience :

• Degree in Chemical Engineering with 10 to 15 years of process engineering experience.
• Registered P.Eng. with APEGA.
• Experience in EPC and Owner / Operator roles preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of gas facility design, field facilities, well sites, gathering systems, compression, and grassroots plants.
• Expertise in acid gas injection, dehydration, and gas sweetening processes.
• Strong understanding of process safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency with HYSYS and other simulation software; familiar with industry codes.
• Excellent technical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Pipeline expertise (if applicable): knowledge of hydraulics, line sizing, and software like DNV Synergi, AFT Suite, etc., with experience on large pipelines preferred.
