Job summary

Medicine Hat High School seeks an Educational Assistant to join Alexandra Middle School. The role supports students with diverse and complex learning needs and provides positive behaviour supports in an inclusive classroom setting.

The position is half-time, at 3 hours per day, with responsibilities across in-class and small-group supports. The ideal candidate will have an Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent experience, strong communication, collaboration skills, and experience

Position Summary:

An opportunity exists for an Educational Assistant to join the Alexandra Middle School team. This includes supporting students with diverse and complex learning needs and providing positive behaviour supports in an inclusive classroom setting.

Skills & Requirements:

• Experience working with students with diverse and complex needs would be an asset
• Experience with supporting developing numeracy skills would be an asset
• Support with in class and small group supports to help students access learning
• Support students with positive behaviour, development of self-regulation strategies and inclusive practices
• Excellent interpersonal and digital communication skills with students and adults
• Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher & school team
• Implement strategies and recommendations effectively as outlined in Individual Support and Behaviour Support Plans
• Ability to work in a flexible learning environment
• Ability to adapt quickly for classroom or student needs
• Supervision duties (recess, classroom, lunch, etc.)
