Job summary

BMO Financial Group in Canada is seeking a Private Banking Officer to support Private Bankers in delivering exceptional service to clients. You will handle banking transactions, identify client needs, and collaborate with branch and regional teams to enable referrals and maintain high service standards.

This role emphasizes compliance with regulations and risk guidelines while delivering accurate processing and proactive problem solving to enhance client satisfaction and retention.

Qualifications

• Typically 2–3 years of relevant experience with a post-secondary degree in a related field.
• Working knowledge of personal (primarily) and commercial credit products, monitoring/operational processes and applications.
• Basic knowledge of the Lending Process and supporting policies.
• Basic knowledge of loan and security documentation, including registration and renewal routine.
• Verbal & written communication skills - Good.
• Organization skills - Good.
• Collaboration & team skills - Good.
• Analytical and problem solving skills - Good.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing new business proposals or presentations to clients/prospects.
• Identifies customer needs and matches with appropriate products or services, including referrals to other BMO employees.
• Identifies and recommends workflow process alternatives to improve efficiency and service levels.
• Determines client needs and ensures timely and accurate completion of transaction processing.
• Takes ownership of client inquiries/ concerns/ complaints, ensuring timely resolution.
• Maintains knowledge of integrated private banking services and offerings and the business's direction.
• Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on business objectives.
• Analyzes data to provide insights and recommendations.
• Reviews overdraft and other monitoring reports with Private Banker and actions accordingly.
• Strives to exceed client service standards to maximize relationship retention and growth.
• Develops rapport and earns client trust.
• Provides timely service to Private Bankers by completing credit, non-credit, and related activities.
• Adheres to banking, lending regulations and risk guidelines.
• Follows security procedures and due diligence to prevent loss and fraud.
• Participates in audits and compliance reviews.
• Identifies and escalates irregularities to management.
• Completes diverse tasks within rules/limits; may include escalations.
• Takes measured risks within the Risk Management Framework.
