Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Principal Scientist with expertise in Analytical Development to lead critical projects in Kimberley. This senior role focuses on developing, validating, and implementing robust analytical methods for the characterization and quality control of pharmaceutical products and intermediates.

You will work in a collaborative R&D environment, mentoring junior scientists and driving regulatory submissions with strong knowledge of ICH guidelines.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in analytical development within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Extensive hands-on experience with analytical techniques including HPLC, UPLC, GC, MS, and dissolution testing.
• Strong understanding of ICH guidelines and regulatory requirements for analytical method validation.
• Proven ability to lead projects and mentor junior scientists.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a strong scientific documentation background.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and validation of analytical methods (HPLC, GC, spectroscopy) for materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing analytical methods to improve performance and robustness.
• Characterize impurities and degradation products, and establish specifications.
• Author and review method validation reports, procedures, and transfer protocols.
• Provide expert analytical support for formulation development, process development, and stability studies.
• Mentor junior analytical scientists and contribute to the department's scientific strategy.
