Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Microbiologist to join the Kimberley, Canada lab. The role focuses on designing and executing microbial studies, validating methods, and ensuring regulatory compliance in a well-equipped facility.

You will lead microbiology testing, mentor staff, and stay current with FDA/EMA standards while contributing to product safety and quality across raw materials to finished products.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Microbiologist to join their team in Kimberley . This role is vital for ensuring product safety and quality through comprehensive microbiological testing and analysis. You will be responsible for designing and executing microbial studies, validating testing methods, and ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

• Perform and interpret microbiological tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
• Develop, validate, and implement new microbiological testing methods.
• Investigate and resolve microbial contamination issues and out-of-specification results.
• Maintain detailed records of all testing activities and ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
• Stay updated on relevant industry standards, regulations, and advancements in microbiology.
• Train and mentor junior laboratory personnel.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biology, or a related life science discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory, preferably in a quality control or research setting.
• Proficiency in various microbiological techniques, including culture methods, microscopy, and molecular-based assays.
• Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and microbial identification.
• Experience with regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EMA) relevant to microbiological testing.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
