This role is open to remote working arrangements within Canada (Pacific Standard Time), with preference for candidates residing in British Columbia.

What you’ll do:

The Principal Product Manager, Payments reports to the VP, Product, and plays a critical leadership role in setting and executing the strategic multi-year vision for a complex product portfolio that includes financial products, member segments, and member channels. The Principal Product Manager is accountable for the P&L of their product, developing a roadmap to improve their portfolio to be the most desirable, feasible and viable for Beem and its members. Some of the goals will be to optimize product performance, automate processes, increase digital adoption, deepen member engagement, and grow share.

As a visionary leader that can deliver outcomes in the Product & Innovation function, the Principal Product Manager prioritizes member needs and bold ideas and finds the right balance with sound business and technology decisions to support an innovative and exciting member journey. The incumbent is a bridge between Product & Innovation and the broader functional organization and maintains a sound understanding of financial products, technology, and member experience to promote Beem’s aspiration of being a “People-First and Digital First” financial institution.

Strategic Product Leadership

  • Own and drive the multi-year product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, growth targets, and members needs.
  • Provide strategic direction for product development initiatives that span multiple departments and cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Use expert judgement to analyze long-term market and member trends, identifying high-impact opportunities and risks that inform product strategy and decisions.
  • Champion a culture of innovation and best-in-class product management practices by leading the end-to-end product lifecycle, from opportunity framing to launch and in-market performance and evolution.
  • Maintain proactive awareness of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape; evaluate competitor product and, their effectiveness in meeting member needs, and potential improvements.
  • End-to-end accountability and ownership of high-profile products including P&L management
  • Establish and manage a strategic product backlog in collaboration with Agile / delivery teams, aligning to annual and quarterly priorities, setting and achieving business outcomes.
  • Develop new product features and functions based on member journeys, feedback, and market trends or through the Beem Innovation process.
  • Lead the design and execution of product launch, transition, migration, or retirement strategies in response to business priorities and market shifts.
  • Define pricing strategies, value propositions, and go-to-market approaches in collaboration with growth, finance, technology, legal, and risk teams.

Product Performance, Insights & Analytics

  • Define and monitor key product performance metrics, OKRs, and KPIs (e.g., member adoption, engagement, conversion, satisfaction, profitability), leveraging both qualitative and quantitative insights.
  • Leverage data analysis techniques and tools to form strategic recommendations, prioritizing initiatives based on impact and value (desirability, feasibility, and viability).
  • Collaborate and communicate outcomes and strategic implications to executive and senior leaders and stakeholders, including VPs.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Leadership

  • Lead cross-function initiatives and bring together teams, including technology, data & analytics, strategy, innovation, sales & marketing, legal, risk, and finance to identify and deliver on opportunities for product outcomes.
  • Communicate ongoing changes and business results with stakeholders and business leaders.
  • Champion and advocate the product vision internally and externally, advocating for member outcomes and enterprise value across all levels of the organization.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on the product management discipline, providing guidance and support to the organization.
  • As the business lead, champion major cross-portfolio projects and cross-functional product initiatives, and agile project teams.
  • Partner with VPs in the growth team to define growth strategy and targets (KPIs)

Payments Expertise

  • Lead the strategy and roadmap for core and emerging payment products, including debit and credit cards, domestic and international transfers, and real-time rail capabilities.
  • Monitor evolving payment landscapes, including regulatory shifts (e.g., open banking, ISO 20022) and fintech disruption, to shape future-ready offerings.
  • Partner with internal risk, compliance, and fraud teams to ensure secure, compliant, and resilient payment solutions.
  • Collaborate with third-party providers (e.g., card issuers, card networks, processors, remittance platforms) to manage vendor relationships and co-develop innovative member experiences.
  • Optimize payment product performance through data-driven decisions focused on transaction volume, member satisfaction, cost efficiency, and operational reliability.
  • Champion people-first and digital-first payment experiences and embed them into broader member journeys within other product areas (e.g., digital, lending, rewards).

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, or a related area; MBA or equivalent is an asset.
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in product management, with a proven record of leading high-impact complex initiatives that deliver strategic outcomes.
  • Deep knowledge of financial products and services, member segmentation, digital and physical channels and non-traditional competition.
  • Strong expertise in Agile methodologies, product analytics, and customer journey mapping.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills with the ability to frame strategic options and secure stakeholder alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in ambiguity and deliver in fast-paced transformational environments.

What you’ll gain:

  • The salary range for this position is $137,000 - $178,000
