emergiTEL is hiring for a Principal Platform Architect for our client in the Telecommunications industry.

Contract Duration: 05 Months with possible extension

Pay Rate: $70 - $80/hour INC

Job Description

We are seeking a technical Principal Platform Architect to design, evolve, and scale client's cloud-native platform infrastructure. In this role, you will serve as a key technical authority for core engineering ecosystems, defining the architectural blueprints that power our distributed systems and modern deployment pipelines.

As a Principal Architect, you will collaborate with engineering teams and product stakeholders to ensure our platform is resilient, secure, observable, and built to handle steady scaling demands.

The successful candidate will define platform architecture across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, distributed systems, identity and security, observability, and large-scale system design. This role will work closely with engineering, product, software development, security, and operations teams to establish robust architectural patterns and ensure platforms are scalable, resilient, secure, and operationally efficient.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and lead cloud-native platform architecture for highly distributed and scalable systems.
• Design resilient distributed systems capable of operating across large-scale and potentially hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
• Establish architecture patterns for Kubernetes-based platforms, containerized workloads, orchestration, service deployment, and lifecycle management.
• Design and integrate identity, authentication, authorization, IAM, security, and access-control capabilities into platform architecture.
• Define observability architecture, including metrics, logging, tracing, monitoring, alerting, and operational visibility.
• Architect platforms for high availability, reliability, fault tolerance, performance, and horizontal scalability.
• Evaluate architectural trade-offs involving cloud services, platform components, APIs, infrastructure, security, performance, and operational requirements.
• Develop architecture standards, reference architectures, technical designs, and architectural guidelines for engineering teams.
• Work closely with Engineering, Product, DevOps/SRE, Security, and Operations teams to translate business and technical requirements into scalable platform solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance across multiple development teams and complex initiatives.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, scalability constraints, and opportunities for platform optimization.
• Support architecture decisions throughout the software development lifecycle, from design through implementation and production operations.
• Promote automation, infrastructure-as-code, DevOps practices, and consistent platform engineering principles.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation.
• Experience with CNCF/cloud-native technologies.
• Knowledge of service mesh, API gateways, event‑driven architectures, and platform engineering.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps/SRE practices.
• Experience designing platforms supporting mission‑critical, high‑volume workloads.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

MUST Haves: Cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, identity, security, Kubernetes, observability, and scale design.
