Job Description (English)

Role Overview

Seeking an experienced Solutions Architect with a strong software engineering background to design and help implement secure, scalable solutions across digital identity, telecommunications, and data platforms.

This is a hands-on architecture role. In addition to defining solution architecture and technical designs, the Solutions Architect will work directly with engineering teams to build prototypes, reference implementations, APIs, SDKs, and other critical components where appropriate.

The successful candidate should be equally comfortable developing end-to-end architecture, evaluating technology choices, and working directly with code to validate designs and accelerate delivery.

The role will work across application, cloud, data, security, and telecommunications domains, translating product and business requirements into practical technical solutions.

Collaborate closely with engineering, product, infrastructure, security, telecom operators, technology partners, and enterprise customers.

Design end-to-end technical solutions across digital identity, fraud prevention, telecommunications, data platforms, APIs, and mobile technologies.

Translate business and product requirements into practical solution architectures, technical designs, APIs, data flows, and integration patterns.

Define service boundaries, interfaces, authentication and authorization models, data models, and integration approaches.

Evaluate architectural trade-offs across scalability, performance, security, reliability, maintainability, cost, and delivery complexity.

Ensure solutions align with broader technology strategy and architectural standards.

Produce architecture diagrams, technical specifications, sequence diagrams, API contracts, and architecture decision records as required.

Hands-on Engineering & Technical Leadership

Contribute directly to software development, particularly for prototypes, proof-of-concepts, reference implementations, APIs, SDKs, and technically complex components.

Use code to validate architectural assumptions, technology choices, integration approaches, and performance characteristics.

Develop and maintain reference patterns and reusable components that engineering teams can adopt across services.

Participate in code and design reviews and provide technical guidance to engineering teams.

Work closely with developers to translate architectural designs into production-ready implementations.

Troubleshoot complex issues spanning applications, APIs, cloud infrastructure, networking, data, and external integrations.

Maintain sufficient hands-on familiarity with the codebase and technology stack to understand implementation constraints and make practical architectural decisions.

Platform & Integration

Design and evolve reusable platform capabilities and APIs across identity and fraud-prevention ecosystems.

Provide solution architecture for capabilities such as SIM-based authentication, Number Verify, device intelligence, fraud signals, call intelligence, and telco-derived identity services.

Design integrations with Canadian telecom operators, enterprise customers, financial institutions, and technology partners.

Translate telecommunications standards and carrier capabilities into scalable software solutions.

Design secure API and service-to-service integration patterns using technologies such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mTLS, and other appropriate authentication mechanisms.

Cloud, Data & Security

Design cloud-native solutions using AWS services and modern distributed-system patterns.

Work with infrastructure and engineering teams on networking, compute, storage, observability, resiliency, and deployment architecture.

Design solutions involving real-time and batch data processing, data platforms, and high-volume transactional systems.

Ensure security, privacy, data protection, and regulatory requirements are incorporated into solution design from the outset.

Define appropriate resiliency, availability, disaster recovery, monitoring, and operational requirements.

Collaboration & Technical Direction

Partner with product and business stakeholders to understand requirements and identify appropriate technical solutions.

Collaborate with engineering leads and developers throughout design and implementation rather than operating solely as an architecture review function.

Engage directly with telecom operators, technology vendors, enterprise customers, and other external partners on technical architecture and integration.

Lead technical discovery, architecture reviews, and solution-design sessions.

Mentor engineers and help establish strong architecture and software engineering practices.

Skills and Experience

8+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or related technical roles, with a strong foundation in hands-on software development.

Recent hands-on software development experience is required. Candidates should be comfortable reading, writing, reviewing, and troubleshooting production-quality code.

Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language such as Java or Python.

Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.

Strong understanding of API design, service boundaries, data modelling, asynchronous processing, caching, concurrency, and distributed-system patterns.

Experience designing and building cloud-native applications, preferably on AWS.

Practical experience with containers and modern deployment environments such as Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS ECS.

Strong understanding of authentication and authorization technologies such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, and API security.

Experience designing systems for scalability, availability, performance, observability, and operational resilience.

Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases and modern data architectures.

Ability to develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts to evaluate technologies and validate architectural decisions.

Experience translating business requirements into architecture while remaining involved through implementation and production delivery.

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience working directly with external customers, partners, or vendors on complex technical integrations.

Familiarity with telecommunications ecosystems, mobile networks, or identity-related APIs is a strong asset.

Experience with GSMA standards, SIM-based authentication, Number Verify, network signaling, or carrier integrations is an asset.

Exposure to fraud prevention, digital identity, device intelligence, or call intelligence is an asset.

Experience building mobile applications, SDKs, or libraries for iOS and/or Android is an asset.

Ideal Candidate

A hands-on architect and experienced software engineer who enjoys working across both architecture and implementation.

Able to design an end-to-end distributed system, explain the design to senior stakeholders, and work alongside engineers to validate critical components in code.

Remains technically engaged throughout implementation and understands the realities and trade-offs of production software.

Comfortable moving between architecture diagrams, API specifications, source code, cloud infrastructure, and technical discussions with customers and partners.

Able to operate across multiple domains while going deep when necessary, particularly in APIs, distributed systems, cloud architecture, security, telecommunications, and digital identity.
