Purpose:

We are recruiting a Principal Mechanical Engineer based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The role involves leading small to medium projects for the mechanical discipline, interfacing with customers, and coordinating with the project team.

The candidate will oversee the mechanical engineering and design team, ensuring quality, cost, and schedule adherence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading a discipline project team of engineers and designers.
  • Serving as project lead designer/engineer, supervising work of others.
  • Performing design and engineering work, including equipment selection for mining, minerals, and metals projects.
  • Developing flow sheets, P&IDs, GAs, and equipment specifications.
  • Preparing requisition packages, performing technical bid evaluations, and reviewing shop drawings.
  • Supporting other disciplines with process and equipment data.
  • Performing calculations, managing 3D models, and integrating inputs from other disciplines.
  • Supporting proposals, project execution, bid evaluations, and certification activities.
  • Interpreting customer specifications and coordinating with other disciplines and customers.
  • Supporting scope definition, estimation, resource allocation, and project activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Supporting quality assurance and verification.
  • Mentoring team members and staying updated with technical innovations.
  • Acting as mechanical engineering lead on specific projects as required.

What you will bring:

Technical and Industry Experience:

  • Senior-level experience in Mechanical engineering, with leadership supporting multiple projects.
  • Experience in Mining, Minerals, and Metals industry, including surface and underground mining.
  • Experience with revamp and grassroots projects, specifications, and standards.
  • Background in material handling, ore sorting, concentrators, smelting, and refining equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, and 3D modeling tools like Navisworks.

Education – Qualifications:

  • University degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Senior-level mechanical design and engineering experience.

Salary range for British Columbia applicants: $133,924 to $199,146, based on qualifications and experience.
