Job summary

Linxus Group in Calgary is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead our geotechnical practice across Canada and the US. The role involves managing site investigations, design, and reporting, while mentoring junior staff and supporting business development.

You will coordinate multi-project work and contribute to the management team in a fast-paced, employee-owned firm. The ideal candidate has a geotechnical or civil engineering degree, P.Eng status in Canada, and strong skills in

Qualifications

  • Geotechnical or Civil engineering degree required.
  • Registered as, or able to register as, a P.Eng. in Canada.
  • Proficient with geotechnical analysis software (GeoStudio, LPile, APile, Settle3D).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel and field presence as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Project management from initiation to execution.
  • Assist in business development efforts.
  • Mentor and manage intermediate and junior engineers.
  • Plan, oversee and execute geotechnical site investigations.
  • Conduct site inspections and supervise field work.
  • Geotechnical design and analysis including soil/rock engineering, slope stability and foundations.
  • Prepare technical reports and write clear documentation.
  • Coordinate site inspections and project supervision.

About the job Principal Geotechnical Engineer

We are a quickly growing, employee owned consulting firm with projects across Canada and the US. We areseeking a Senior orDirector Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing geotechnical engineering practice in Calgary and help lead the development and execution of geotechnical engineering services to support our ongoing projects and clients. The successful applicant will provide and manage the development and execution of geotechnical site investigations, engineering analysis and design to support various civil heavy earthworks projects including water storage dams, tailings dams, earthen containment ponds, pipelines, and industrial infrastructure. The successful candidate will have the initiative and accountability to work independently and with our team in a rewarding, fast paced environment, and will have an opportunity to join our Management Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

Project management, including project initiation, coordination, and execution

Assisting in business development

Mentoring and managing intermediate and junior engineers

Planning, overseeing and executing geotechnical site investigations

Conducting site inspections

Geotechnical design and analysis including (but not limited to) soil and rock engineering, soil dynamics, slope stability, and foundations

Reporting and technical writing

Site inspection and supervision

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

Geotechnical or Civil engineering degree

Registered as, or the ability to immediately register as, a P.Eng. in Canada

Computer and software skills to complete geotechnical analysis, including GeoStudio, LPile, APile, Settle3D

Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are essential

Applicant must be willing to travel and be in the field as required on a project needs basis

Must have a valid drivers license and be legally entitled to work in Canada

THE FOLLOWING WILL BE CONSIDERED AN ASSET:

Exposure to large civil earthworks construction projects

Experience with the design, construction, operation, and inspection of earthen dams and/or tailings dams
