Job summary

Sofomation is seeking a senior Geophysicist to lead seismic interpretation and integration across exploration and development projects in Calgary. You will leverage a master's degree in Geoscience or Engineering and 20+ years of upstream experience to drive program development, risk assessment and multidisciplinary collaboration.

You will translate complex geological data into actionable insights for decision-making, oversee geophysical components, and mentor teams while navigating cost and data

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geoscience or Engineering is required.
• Knowledge of Seismic API is essential.
• Optimize survey design balancing cost, data quality, and exploration risk.
• Seismic interpretation to build subsurface frameworks.
• Experience in program development and prospect evaluation.
• Advanced analysis like AVO/AVA and rock physics.
• Assess geohazards such as faults, overpressure, instability or drilling risk.
• Integrate seismic with well logs and petrophysical interpretation.
• Strong teamwork, leadership, strategic thinking and communication.

• Holding a master's degree in Geoscience or Engineering with 20+ years of professional Upstream experience in E&P research & development activities.
• Knowledge and skill of Seismic API
• Optimize survey design considering cost, data quality, and exploration risk
• Seismic interpretation (horizons, faults, stratigraphy) to build subsurface frameworks
• Proven experience in program development, prospect evaluation, and multidisciplinary integration
• Advanced analysis like AVO/AVA, inversion. Rock physics (seismic reservoir characterization)
• Assess geohazards such as faults, overpressure, instability, or drilling risks.
• Integrate seismic with Well logs. Core data and Petrophysical interpretation
• Highly developed teamwork abilities, leadership, strategic thinking, problem-solving, goal-oriented, multi-tasking, flexibility, creativity, organization, and superior communication skills
• Translate complex geological data into actionable insights for decision-making
• Manage geophysical components of exploration/development projects
