Job description

About the Role

Our client, a global leader in the Oil & Gas industry, is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Geomodeler for a fully remote position. This senior role is instrumental in developing and advancing sophisticated 3D geological and reservoir models that underpin critical exploration, development, and production decisions. The Principal Geomodeler will lead complex modeling projects, integrate diverse datasets (seismic, well logs, core, production history), and drive innovation in geomodeling methodologies. You will be responsible for ensuring the geological integrity and accuracy of models, conducting rigorous uncertainty assessments, and effectively communicating complex geological concepts to multidisciplinary teams and senior management. This remote-first opportunity allows you to leverage your expertise from anywhere, contributing to high-impact projects within a leading organization. Our client is committed to employing cutting-edge technology and fostering a collaborative virtual environment. We are looking for a visionary leader who can push the boundaries of geomodeling and significantly contribute to the discovery and optimal development of hydrocarbon resources. Your strategic input will guide asset evaluation and maximize resource value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, construction, and validation of complex 3D geological and reservoir models.
  • Integrate static and dynamic data seamlessly into geomodels, ensuring geological consistency and predictive accuracy.
  • Develop and apply advanced stochastic modeling techniques for uncertainty quantification and risk assessment.
  • Define and implement best practices and workflows for geomodeling across the organization.
  • Mentor and guide junior geomodelers and geoscientists, fostering technical excellence.
  • Collaborate closely with exploration, development, and production teams to ensure models meet business objectives.
  • Evaluate and implement new geomodeling technologies and software.
  • Prepare and present detailed technical reports, model reviews, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Ensure quality control of all geomodeling outputs and maintain geological databases.
  • Contribute to strategic asset evaluations and field development planning through high-fidelity geomodeling.
Requirements
  • PhD or Master's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related geoscience field with a specialization in geomodeling.
  • Minimum of 12 years of extensive experience in geological and reservoir geomodeling within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Expert proficiency with leading geomodeling software packages (e.g., Petrel, Roxar RMS, GeoGraphix).
  • Demonstrated experience in leading complex geomodeling projects and cross‑functional teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of seismic interpretation, well log analysis, petrophysics, and reservoir engineering principles.
  • Proven ability to perform advanced uncertainty analysis and probabilistic assessments.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem‑solving, and quantitative skills.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities, crucial for remote collaboration.
  • Proven track record of innovation and leadership in the field of geomodeling.
  • Experience with international projects and diverse geological settings is highly desirable.
Benefits
  • Our client offers a highly competitive executive‑level compensation package, including a significant base salary, performance bonuses, and equity options.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, a top‑tier retirement savings plan, and generous paid time off are provided.
  • We invest heavily in our employees' professional development through advanced training, conference attendance, and research opportunities.
  • This is a fully remote position, offering exceptional flexibility and the ability to work from anywhere.
  • You will be at the forefront of technological advancements in the Oil & Gas industry, driving significant value for our client.
