Are you an expert in proposing solutions to complex technological problems? Do you enjoy socializing your fact-based opinions based on your experience and understanding? If so, you could be a successful Principal Enterprise Architect at OMERS, joining the Enterprise Architecture team within Data & Technology (D&T), reporting to the Director of Enterprise Architecture. This role is pivotal in driving the design and implementation of the firm's overall technical architecture across the organization. The successful candidate will collaborate with various teams across OMERS and Oxford Properties to recommend the right-sized strategy for solutions, applications, platforms, and technologies.

As a member of this team, your responsibilities will include:
Federated Collaboration: Build consensus with and compromise between colleagues and customers, who sometimes have diverse goals, to deliver advice that balances our technology and line of business strategies.
Communication: Clearly communicate complex technical concepts in verbal, written (email, chat, word documents), and presentation formats to resources with a variety of technical expertise.
Technical Architecture Strategy: Recommend future-state technology architecture by understanding current state, considering industry trends, peer organization(s) direction, OMERS technology strategy, and multiple business strategies.
Technical Guidance: Participate in the development of technical standards, principles, patterns, architectural building blocks, blueprints, and/or best practices for OMERS’ technology ecosystems.
Technology Evaluation: Provide analysis (e.g., assessment of options), high-level design, and contribute/lead POCs evolving the technology ecosystems across the organization.
Governance Participation: Contribute, facilitate, and sometimes present at governance ceremonies such as the Architecture Review Board or similar.
Technical Expertise: Occasionally take on a hands-on role as a technical expert, collaborating with engineering, architecture, or development teams to resolve issues, provide guidance, and craft high-level solutions.
You may wonder: what are specific recent examples of team deliverables? Workload Placement Strategy, Data Platform Strategy, Opinion on APIM, Technical Capability Mapping Evolution, Technical Standards Creation, Creation of Platform Reference Architecture, etc.
Experience Requirements:
5 years of experience as an Enterprise Architect with an emphasis on designing and presenting strategies and roadmaps for enterprise consumption.
10 years of experience in explaining, designing, and socializing technical solutions, opinions, roadmaps, and other recommendations.
Experience in modernization of complex legacy technology ecosystems with mixed components from Cloud, SaaS, and data center infrastructure.
Deep understanding of market trends in the technology domain.
Nice to Haves:
University degree or post-graduate in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or other quantitative disciplines, or equivalent training, education, and experience.
Experience in the Pension, Asset Management, or Financial Services industries is a plus.
Relevant certifications include but are not limited to:
Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI, etc.), architect, engineer, data architecture, etc.
Security certifications such as CISSP, CISP, or similar.
Architecture certifications like ITIL, TOGAF, or Zachman.
