Job summary

BBA Consultants seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer for its Vancouver office to lead and contribute to projects across energy, mining and industrial sectors. You will drive design, construction, commissioning and operations phases, supervise teams, and foster client relationships.

The role requires 20+ years of experience, a BC-registered or eligible P.Eng, and strong leadership with English communication skills. Travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering Degree, or similar.
• 20+ years of relevant project experience.
• Registered with EGBC as a P.Eng or eligible to register within the next year.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to execution of projects across conceptual, design, construction, commissioning and operational phases.
• Prepare, review and approve design packages including reports, calculations, specifications, and proposals.
• Develop and implement work methods for efficient delivery.
• Perform site inspections, testing, and commissioning at client sites locally and abroad.
• Oversee and prepare proposals including scoping, cost estimate and schedule.
• Manage and lead multidisciplinary project work packages with budgets and schedules.
• Mentor and supervise intermediate and junior Engineers and drafters.
• Maintain and grow relationships with clients and the quality of BBA’s services.

As an Electrical Engineer in the BBA Vancouver office, you will lead and contribute to the execution of projects in conceptual, design, construction, commissioning and operational phases for our clients in the Energy, Industrial and Mining sectors.

• Work collaboratively with clients, project managers, engineers, designers and drafters in the preparation of deliverables to BBA and client standards
• Prepare, review and approve engineering design packages including reports, studies, estimates, budgets,schedules, drawings, calculations, specifications, quotations, proposals, presentations
  
• Develop and implement work methods
  
• Perform site inspections, testing and commissioning at client sites, locally and abroad
  
• Oversee and prepare proposals including scoping, cost estimate and schedule
  
• Manage and lead single and multidisciplinary project work packages including preparing budget and schedule, and tracking deliverable progress
  
• Train, coach, mentor and supervise intermediate and junior Engineers, Technicians and drafters

In addition to the technical responsibilities of this position, we are looking for individuals who have experience and interest in project leadership responsibilities such as project discipline leads, project engineers and project managers. Overview of certifications and job requirements

• Electrical Engineering Degree, or similar
• 20+ years of relevant project experience
• Registered with EGBC as a P.Eng or eligible to register with EGBC as a P.Eng. within the next year
• A valid class 5 BC driver’s license
• Excellent communication skills with high competency in English (both spoken and written)
• Ability to travel on short notice to customer sites and other BBA offices
• Experience preparing, reviewing and approving technical documents such as studies, reports, specifications, calculations, plans, and instructions
• Experience preparing and reviewing design deliverables such as single line diagrams, layouts, elevations, material lists, cable and termination schedules,and more
• Experience preparing and reviewing project estimates
• Familiarity with IEEE Color Books, CEC and NEC
