Inviting applications for the role of Principal Consultant, DBA Sybase.

The purpose of this job is to provide all aspects of database administration, offer technical guidance, support junior (L1) database administrators, and perform vulnerability remediation as the primary task. This position will handle escalated incidents and perform root cause analysis of problems arising from incident reports (IRs) and proactive business needs.

Responsibilities
  1. Primary focus on vulnerability remediation.
  2. Configuration, implementation, and support of Sybase Database Production servers; provide technical guidance to junior team members.
  3. Understand business requirements and design solutions accordingly.
  4. Support configuration, implementation, and support of SQL Database Production servers; guide junior team members.
  5. Ensure quality standards during release implementation, especially in DML/DCL/DDL & Data Fixes.
  6. Resolve incidents, escalate to client management and vendor as necessary.
  7. Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  8. Perform root cause analysis for various incident priorities and proactively based on business needs.
  9. Collaborate with internal teams and third-party vendors for change implementation.
  10. Follow policies and procedures for incident, problem, and change management.
  11. Meet service performance expectations with defined service levels and quality.
  12. Escalate service-related issues and risks to appropriate leads.
  13. Provide technical guidance to junior team members when applicable.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Graduate or postgraduate in Technology with a focus on Computers or IT, or any stream with relevant IT courses.

Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of Oracle, Sybase, and SQL Database architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Experience with multiple database releases, DB refreshes, and installs.
  • Knowledge of shell scripting, UNIX (Solaris/Linux).
  • Database user management, backup recovery, datafile management, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with database upgrades, character set conversions, and monitoring tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Results-driven with the ability to work independently.
  • Capital Markets domain knowledge and familiarity with ITIL processes are preferred.
