Job summary

Black Duck Software, Inc. in Calgary, Alberta seeks a Principal Software Engineer to architect agentic workflows that connect Black Duck's AppSec products into developer toolchains from IDEs to CI/CD and PR workflows.

You will design production-grade AI agent systems and drive multi-agent orchestration across platforms. This senior role focuses on architectural leadership, MCP integration, and end-to-end delivery with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building agentic AI systems and multi-agent orchestration.
• Experience with MCP servers or comparable plugin architectures in AI tools.
• 2+ years applying LLMs into production workflows with real examples.
• Strong API and systems design skills; shipping integrations and connectors.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git workflows, and modern developer tooling.
• Proactive, ownership-driven with cross-functional collaboration.
• Broad software engineering background (8+ years) including Python/TypeScript/Go and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the big-picture solution architecture for integrations across IDEs, CI/CD, and PR workflows.
• Identify opportunities, prototype, and drive new integrations and capabilities.
• Design and implement agentic workflows, MCP-based tooling, and APIs.
• Own the technical direction of the Black Duck MCP Gateway and expand exposed capabilities.
• Contribute to existing agentic features and improve remediation guidance.
• Mentor engineers on agentic system design and modern integration patterns.
