Job summary

Epic Games in Canada is seeking a Principal AI Programmer to integrate AI into Unreal Engine, designing and shipping end-to-end AI tooling inside the engine, including engine-side C++/Python tooling and editor scripting.

You will collaborate across engine, cloud services, and web UI, evaluate new LLM capabilities, mentor teammates, and help define the technical direction for reliable, safe AI-driven automation.

Qualifications

• Strong background in game engine programming and architecture.
• Practical experience with embedding AI capabilities and tool-calling.
• Experience with cloud-native services and backend APIs.

Responsibilities

• Design and build LLM-driven agents and tooling inside Unreal Engine.
• Extend cloud-hosted harnesses and databases mediating between LLMs and the engine.
• Work across engine, cloud backend, and web UI to ship end-to-end features.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging LLM capabilities into Epic's engine and tooling.
• Define technical direction for reliability, safety, and evaluation of AI automation.
• Mentor engine and backend programmers on AI system design.
