The Position

The successful candidate will bring a thoughtful, hands-on approach to actively engage students and foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills. French teachers will teach French as a Second Language within the IB-PYP framework, using the AIM program. Responsibilities include curriculum planning, instruction, assessment, and other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize diverse teaching strategies to support student success.
• Implement various assessment methods to monitor and report student progress.
• Maintain strong classroom management and foster a positive learning community.
• Collaborate with colleagues, co-plan with homeroom teachers and the PYP coordinator, and participate in team meetings.
• Adhere to IB PYP philosophy and curriculum framework.
• Follow policies outlined in the Teacher Handbook.
• Support diverse learners, including ELLs, students with IEPs, and gifted students.
• Communicate professionally with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Participate actively in faculty life and professional development.
• Organize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Skills and Qualifications

• Ontario Teaching Certificate (Good Standing).
• Subject-specific qualifications and willingness to pursue additional levels.
• Experience with Ontario and/or PYP curriculum is an asset.
• Experience teaching French as a Second Language through AIM is an asset.
• Knowledge of the “Growing Success” assessment policy.
• Familiarity with SMARTBoard, iPad, Teams, Toddle, and Atlas Rubicon.
• Experience supporting co-curricular activities.
