Position Summary

Primary Care Paramedic – Full‑time permanent position based in Tobique, NB. Works rotating days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays. Duties include on‑scene medical support and transport of patients to hospitals, responding to approximately 130,000 calls per year.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency medical care on scene and en route to hospitals.
• Apply emergency techniques and medical treatments in unpredictable clinical presentations.
• Coordinate with dispatchers, advanced-care teams, and hospital staff to ensure patient safety and efficient care.
• Adhere to the National Occupational Competency Profile and Ambulance New Brunswick policies, procedures, and protocols.

Required Qualifications

• Entitled to work in Canada (citizenship, permanent resident status, or valid work permit).
• Ability to work efficiently as a team member and to work all shifts, maintaining a good attendance record.
• High regard for confidentiality and patient safety.
• Completed a Primary Care Paramedic program/course of at least six months; if not yet qualified, review available paramedic programs in Atlantic Canada.
• Registered and active with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick.
• Valid New Brunswick Class 4 driver’s licence (or equivalent).

Application Requirements

• Current resume and cover letter.
• Certified copy of PCP diploma from an accredited institution.
• Proof of current registration with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick.
• Proof of completion of a Physical Abilities Test (PAT) within the last 12 months.
• Proof of CPR Level C certification issued within the last 12 months.
• Photocopy of front and back of valid Class 4 driver’s licence with at least one year of driving experience.
• Driver abstract issued within the last 30 days.
• Copy of any valid driver course certificate (e.g., CEVO, VFIS, NS VSP) issued within the last three years.
• Criminal record with vulnerable sector check issued within the last 30 days.
• Immunization record for Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and TB skin test within the last 12 months (or laboratory evidence). Consultation with Employee Health and Wellness Consultant may be scheduled to ensure up‑to‑date vaccinations.
• Valid official language assessments (oral only) in both French and English from the Department of Post‑secondary Education, Training and Labour.
• Additional training and/or education is highly valued.
