Job summary

Ambulance NB is looking for a Part-time Permanent Primary Care Paramedic based in Dalhousie, NB. The successful candidate will provide essential medical support to patients in emergency situations and ensure efficient care during transfer to hospitals.

Qualified applicants must have completed the Primary Care Paramedic program and be registered with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick. Additional training is highly valued.

DUTIES OF POSITION

Clinical expectations and responsibilities for Primary Care Paramedics are based on the current National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP) for Primary Care Paramedics, Paramedic Association of New Brunswick registration requirements, and Ambulance NB policies, procedures and protocols.

Paramedics provide medical support to patients on scene and en route to hospitals. They are skilled in emergency techniques and well-versed in various medical treatments, responding to unpredictable clinical presentations in the field and ensuring patients receive appropriate care until delivery to hospital.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status or work permit).
• Demonstrate ability to work efficiently as a member of a team and be available to work all shifts as assigned, maintaining a good attendance record.
• Have a high regard for confidentiality and patient safety.
• Completed a Primary Care Paramedic program/course of over six months; if not yet completed, applicants may be considered after successful assessment.
• Registered, active Paramedic with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick; if not currently registered in New Brunswick, visit PANB at www.panb.ca.
• Hold a valid New Brunswick Class 4 Driver's Licence (or equivalent).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUR APPLICATION

• Current Resume and Cover Letter.
• Copy of PCP diploma from an accredited institution.
• Proof of current registration with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick.
• Proof of completion of a Physical Abilities Test (PAT) specific to working as a paramedic within the last 12 months.
• Proof of valid CPR Level C certification issued in the last 12 months.
• Photocopy of front and back of valid Class 4 driver’s licence (or equivalent) with minimum one year driving experience.
• Driver's abstract issued within the last 30 days.
• Copy of any valid Driver’s course certificate (e.g., CEVO, VFIS or NS VSP or equivalent) issued within the last three years.
• Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check issued within the last 30 days.
• Immunization Record (Tetanus Tdap within last 10 years; 2 MMR vaccines; 2 Varicella vaccines; 3 Hepatitis B doses; TB Skin Test within last 12 months).
• Valid official language assessments (oral assessment only) in both French and English from the Department of Post-secondary Education, Training and Labour.
• Additional training and/or education is highly valued.
