Role Overview

The PCP provides immediate treatment and transportation of patients, demonstrating professionalism, communication, and knowledge. Responsibilities include safe vehicle operation, patient care documentation, and collaboration with outside agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Maintain skills per Alberta Occupational Competency Profile (AOCP).
  2. Operate vehicles safely according to regulations.
  3. Maintain vehicle readiness.
  4. Work safely in hazardous environments.
  5. Collaborate with external agencies.
  6. Document patient care accurately and promptly.
  7. Be punctual and professional.
  8. Follow chain of command and safety protocols.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Alberta Operators License (Class 1, 2, or 4).
  • Registration with Alberta College of Paramedics.
  • CPR certification and FARE Certificate.
  • Completion of Alberta Health Services MCPs.
Physical & Safety Requirements
  • Good physical health.
  • Ability to lift heavy patients and extricate from hazardous environments.
  • Awareness of hazards like violence, traffic, and weather.
