Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full-stage Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence without restrictions, and have the ability to use a personal vehicle for government business.
  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
  • Must be able to travel frequently within the city and occasionally throughout the province, which may include air travel.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and overnight stays as needed.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Completion of a recognized engineering/technologist degree or diploma program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience with current building codes, standards, construction methods and materials, asset management principles, and risk management practices.
  • Experience in financial management, including reviewing budgets and developing/reviewing cost estimates.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to present to different levels of audiences.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and persuasively.
  • Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize workload to meet competing deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with diverse work groups and stakeholders.

Desired:

  • Experience in program/project management including scope definition, project accounting, scheduling, and resource management.

Duties:

Reporting to the Director of Assets and Capital Planning, the Preventative Maintenance Technologist plays a key role in developing and implementing strategies, objectives, and goals for the Property Services and Portfolio Management branches within Manitoba Housing, Housing, Addictions, and Homelessness department. This position is responsible for overseeing the direction, execution, and management of the department’s Asset Management Program. It also leads the development of asset management practices, policies, and procedures.
